D25TODAY - FAQ - March 30, 2005

1) Some information...
- D25Today is a Today plugin placed on your Today screen.
- You can get more information at http://www.d25.cjb.net
2) Can I install D25Today to SD card with Cabinst tool ?
- No. Today plugins must be installed with default installation settings
(default directory is \Windows on Pocketpc)
3) How to "reset" the plugin ?
- Sometimes you need to "reset" the plugin when you see something doesn't
work properly.
- Tap on "Start/Settings/Today/tab Items", then Uncheck D25Today plugin, tap OK.
Check the plugin again, tap OK.
4) I didn't see any new Plugin appeared on Today screen after installing
D25Today cab file.
- After installing D25Today plugin, you should "reset" it. (see this FAQ to
know how to "reset" the plugin)
5) I see overlapped Text on D25Today plugin.
- This is still a bug and I am investigating it. It seems that this is the
confliction with Sbp Pocket Plus. Currently, I am using
cLaunch
(freeware) instead of big Sbp Pocket Plus and never get this bug.
- The temporary way to fix is: Tap the space under Power-meter-icon of D25Today
Plugin to open Month Calendar, tap it again to refresh the Plugin.
6) Some said that D25Today may slow PocketPC down ?
- This is Not true. The only thing may slow your pocketpc down is Blending
effect and it's just used 2 seconds for blending.
- But you can set Blending Interval 10s or 15s or uncheck Blending effect in
Option Panel. It's up to you!

<OWNER IMAGES>
1) I can't use JPEG, GIF, ... format and larger Owner Images than 30 x 40
pixels (width x height).
- The default Image Size (30 x 40) is reasonable for Today screen. We should
leave the spaces on screen for other plugins.
- In addition, the blending effects on larger Images will take more time to do.
This may slow your pocketpc down a bit.
- To keep the plugin size small, I will not support other image formats like
JPEG, GIF, ... Just BMP is supported.
2) How many Owner Images I can have ?
- You can have up to 20 files in each Images folder. Ofcourse, you can have
as many folders as you want.
3) Should I place the Images on external Storage Card (SD...) ?
- No. Because when you remove the SD, D25Today plugin may not be able to
read the Images.

<DATETIME> mode
1) I chose Chinese (Japanese, Vietnamese...) Datetime style but it show
"square characters" instead of Chinese characters.
- Go to Option Panel of D25Today Plugin, select tab [More], choose your
approriate Font & Language to display the characters properly.
- For example, for displaying Chinese Datetime style, I choose Font "MingLiU"
(of course, you must install this Font first), Language "Chinese"

<FAVOURITE TEXT> mode
1) Where's the place to modify default favourite Text ?
- By default, after installing D25, you can modify (adds/removes...) the
"\My Documents\D25_text.txt" file (on Pocketpc).
- Each line in the file is a sentence. Insert the character "|" where you want
to break a line. (For example: Line1 | Line2)
- Please note that you need to use a word-processor that support "Save as
Unicode" feature (which MS Pocket Word don't have).

<WORDS LEARNING> mode
1) How to add more Vocabularies to D25Today ?
- By default, after installing D25, you can modify (adds/removes...) the
"\My Documents\D25_words.txt" file (on Pocketpc).
- Please note that you need to use a word-processor that support "Save as
Unicode" feature (which MS Pocket Word don't have).
2) What is the word-processor that support "Save as Unicode" ?
- Microsoft Pocket Word doesn't allow you Save a Text file as Unicode. So,
please don't use it to modify "D25_words.txt" or "D25_text.txt" file. It will
break the file content.
- A small & nice Pocketpc Applications called "Notepad.exe" run on your PocketPC
can Save a Text file as Unicode. Use it !
- Or use your normal Notepad (on WinXP, Win2K) to open & modify those files,
then "Save as..." with Unicode and Synchronize to your Pocketpc.
3) Which language I can use to display vocabularies & meanings ?
- Any language, as long as you have its Font file installed on your
Pocketpc.
- For example, I installed "MS Gothic" Font for displaying Japanese characters,
"MingLiU" Font for displaying Chinese characters...

fonts.
4) I see "square characters" instead of my vocabularies.

5) What's the format of Vocabulary File "D25_words.txt" ?
- Vocabulary (phonetic)|meaning
6) Can I have more than 1 vocabularies file ?
- You can create as many vocabularies file as you want. Then go to Option panel
to select which one you want to use (button "Words File").
